Permaculture
The Bioloco ecological refuge, located on a 25-hectare plot in southern Sardinia, is an impressive example of the practical application of permaculture. In a hilly landscape, about 6 km from the sea, the original potential of nature is restored through targeted and sustainable interventions. Based on David Holmgren’s twelve principles of permaculture-from “observe and interact” to “respond creatively to change”-natural and lasting cycles are created that protect the ecosystem from devastation.
At the center is the Food Forest, where traditional olive groves are transformed into a living network of ancient fruit and vegetable varieties. Hundreds of swales, sponges and a multi-mile long keyline system have been created to effectively store rainwater and channel it purposefully into the soil. In this way, the ecosystem, threatened by drought, is protected from drying up and new life is introduced. Local stone terracing, micro-zones with organic material and the use of solar energy for water supply complete this backbone of the project.
The implementation of these measures requires that each intervention be adapted to the specific circumstances. Here, external resources are consciously foregone and natural building materials such as clay are used. This agile, process-oriented approach allows for continuous adaptations and optimizes long-term system performance. Bioloco impressively demonstrates how permaculture creates a regenerative space where humans do not consume nature, but enter into a respectful and creative exchange with it-a place where sustainability and quality of life go hand in hand.
Yoga
Yoga is more than just a physical activity: it is a philosophy of life that harmonizes body, mind and soul. Especially in Raja Yoga, the royal path, the focus is on the inner space of experience. It involves not only asana, but also meditation, mindfulness and self-reflection, to train the mind and calm the inner dialogue. The goal is to reach a state of pure awareness in which the boundaries between the individual and the universal energy dissolve.
Advaita philosophy provides the theoretical foundation, teaching that the apparent separation of self and world is an illusion. In truth, everything is an expression of one undivided being. This awareness invites one to overcome dualistic perceptions of self and others and anchor oneself in the deep connection with everything: thus yoga becomes a path to self-knowledge and inner freedom.
In modern Western culture, yoga is often marketed primarily as a means for physical fitness and stress reduction, overshadowing its spiritual depth and philosophical background. As a result, the holistic potential of the practice often remains untapped and the sense of a deeper connection between body, mind, and cosmos is lost.
A simple life in and with nature can help one rediscover the true spirit of yoga. Direct experience of the natural elements-whether in the quiet of the forest, beside a babbling brook or under the open sky-invites the mind to detach itself from superficial distractions. In this authentic environment, a space of calm and clarity is created that allows direct experience of the nondual unity of all things and thus access to the original wisdom of yoga, which can lead to profound transformation far beyond physical exercises.
Somatics
At Bioloco, body, mind and nature come together in a unique experience of self-discovery. Innovative approaches such as somatic experience, trauma and stress management, embodiment, movement culture, osteopathy, and modern aquatic techniques (Watsu, Aguahara, osteopathic water applications) are harmoniously combined to enable profound changes on a physical and mental level.
Somatic methods promote perception and integration of bodily sensations, gently dissolve emotional blocks and old traumas. Complementary trauma techniques help to permanently transform blocked stress patterns, while embodiment strengthens the connection between inner experience and outer movement. Mindfulness exercises help participants listen to their bodies’ signals and lead more authentic, self-determined lives.
Osteopathy works by correcting poor posture and muscle tension caused by stress-related factors, thus promoting the natural healing process. This approach is expanded at Bioloco with water-based techniques: in a heated pool, which can be individually adjusted according to body temperature, Watsu and Aguahara allow a state of near-gravitylessness, which creates deep relaxation and a different access to one’s body. Osteopathic water applications also promote blood circulation and dissolve old patterns of tension so that prana can flow freely again.
Bioloco also has a 100-square-meter outdoor yoga area and a 160-square-meter stone circle with special flooring for body work. These areas train balance and body awareness and allow safe and personalized exercises. The synergy of these different approaches creates a holistic space where physical, emotional and spiritual wholeness can be experienced. The natural architecture and sustainable design invite intense self-reflection for greater inner peace, mindfulness, and lasting joy of living that extends far beyond the living room.
Detox
In post-industrial societies, the destruction of nature is a serious problem that directly affects us human beings. Civilization has turned away from its own nature and deceived us by destroying the long-term vital basis for a seemingly simpler life. Today this manifests itself in toxins in the body and mind: chemicals in food and air, energy-deprived foods, unhealthy living environments, toxic and dysfunctional relationships, dependence on technology and the general stress of modern life.
A turnaround often requires a comprehensive, gentle and balanced personal detoxification and a radical change of course-not as a product, but as a process of awareness and taking personal responsibility, leading to a new life practice in which toxins are no longer created. Such a detoxification program can include bowel cleansings, the use of medicinal herbs, special forms of nutrition and yoga exercises (so-called kriyas). Education about toxic patterns of communication and relationships, a daily purification practice, and work on inner beliefs and behavior patterns are also important components.
In addition, poisons such as smoking, alcohol, chemical drugs, and many allopathic medicines should be avoided. Factors such as radiation exposure, inadequate sleeping places, mold or animal parasites can also adversely affect the state of intoxication. With the increasing complexity of our world, the causes of poisoning must be precisely analyzed. Ultimately, this process aims to transform one’s lifestyle so that humans can live in harmony with nature again and maintain their health sustainably.
Nutrition and food
When we talk about nutrition, we talk about what nourishes us. And when we talk about food, it becomes even clearer: food is a means of living.
So it is about nourishment to feel alive and vital.
And by that I mean not only food and drink, but also love, air and movement. And if we’re honest, we also need some attention now and then. So if you ask me, everything we do is in some way a form of nourishment. Similarly, human connection and presence can be understood as nourishment.
Food should be fresh and alive. Life nourishes life. Today it is believed that the bioelectricity of food is even more important than its biochemical content of minerals and vitamins. But it all depends on the overall interaction. From an impoverished, consumed and chemical-poisoned earth, one does not get rich and living food.
It is not only about what we eat, but also how we do it. Do we consume food consciously, slowly and carefully? Do we forcefully swallow it? Do we feel gratitude? Do we know where our food comes from? How do we prepare meals? In what combination?
In Bioloco you will find a new approach to the subject of food and nutrition. Here you will experience a profound transformation in your understanding of what nourishes you and keeps you alive in your life, directly at the source of production.

The art of natural plaster
„Atelier Aperto“ is an opportunity for those who already have basic knowledge of clay as a material and who wish to gain experience in order to explore certain topics related to clay coatings, decorative applications and the use of lime. It is an invitation to those who have contacted me for internships to foster sharing and create a working group dedicated to creating something functional and beautiful, free from the strict rules that other types of construction sites require. It is an opportunity to exchange knowledge and different worlds in order to get to know each other and possibly collaborate in the future. The context that will host this initiative is a place that I have seen come into being and transform, as I contributed to the realisation of some of ist parts, such as the interior plastering of a small house, etc. As the work progressed, I was able to immerse myself and witness the transformations of this piece of land and nourish that inner voice that always leads me to seek dialogue with nature in the various aspects of life, to observe and feel more closely how the elements manifest themselves, to learn to recognise plants whose names I did not know, accompanied by the light of the different seasons. These aspects, combined with the type of project and context, the fact that we will be outdoors in nature, represent a formula that, in my opinion, can encourage discovery, research and creativity, drawing richness from that which exudes simplicity.

The art of interior design - Clay workshop
When we are creative, we create something. You can model clay on the wall. But when does something become sacred to you? When all the love has flowed into your work and you discover the beauty of that devotion. We are honored to welcome for this workshop two great clay artists, Isabella Breda and Kenji Matsuki, who at all times work with this devotion. Two masters of the art of clay who, in addition to technology, above all convey their love for the earth in every moment.
